I write this from a Japanese bullet train leaving the world’s largest metropolis, or megalopolis, Tokyo. The sheer size of the city is mind boggling. I have been on the train for about half an hour now going seriously fast and we’re still not out of the city.

Getting on the right train was stressful. Tokyo Central Station is a massive underground labyrinth to navigate, and everything is in Japanese. Luckily, the Japanese are very helpful. Look confused enough and someone will help you out. I feel a sense of accomplishment having got on the right train. That’s solo travel for you; it can sometimes be stressful, but incredibly rewarding which fosters personal growth.

Ï’m currently finishing up my first draft of my debut novel, The Sydney Swinger, which is the first in the series, The Nomadic Adventures of Archie Flynn: Global Citizen Extraordinaire.

The origin story tells the tale of how Archie became an unwilling digital nomad and fled Sydney, his hometown in Australia. Each subsequent book will be set in a different country, as we follow his many mis-adventures around the world.

All my newsletter subscribers will have the opportunity to get the eBook for free from Amazon upon launch early next year, much like they did for my debut non-fiction book, Goodbye Office, Hello World! Find freedom, work from anywhere and travel the world.

I'm not an influencer

Nor am I trying to be one. I write the above book to help people achieve a life of freedom and purpose. It also serves as a way to find my audience for The Nomadic Adventures of Archie Flynn: Global Citizen Extraordinaire book series, as the fictional character is a digital nomad.

One of my favorite products at the moment is the Wise app and debit card. Formally known as TransferWise, the app allows you to load money onto 50 different currencies, as per screenshot below.

They have the most competitive exchange rates in the industry. Then, when you use your debit card in another country, Wise automatically detects which country you are in and deducts from the appropriate currency account. This means no exchanging money at the airport and no foreign transaction fees.

If you sign up using the link below you will get a fee-free transfer up to £500:

I may get a small commission but it won't cost you anything.

What's next?

From Tokyo I am onto Lisbon which was rated at as the best city in the world for expats and digital nomads in 2022. I'm going to see what all the fuss is about an report back to you.

Until then,

Be free!

Being a Nomad Ain't All Sunshine and Rainbows A comment I get a lot from friends in reaction to pics I post on socials from around the world is:"Living the dream!" Which is precisely why I don't post many pics on socials, because I don't want to give out the impression that I'm living the dream. Living this nomadic existence is definitely not all sunshine and rainbows. There are challenges and it's not for everyone. Many newbie nomads don't last a year. Heck, some don't even last six months,...

Alicante on Spain's Costa Blanca

Welcome to the most infrequent newsletter in the history of newsletters. And most likely the last for 2023. As usual, I've been busy. After moving from country to country, working a remote job, finishing up my first novel and preparing it for launch, I've finally found time to fill in my subscribers. Thank you for your patience. Exploring Spain's Costa Blanca I entered Spain in the middle of a brutal heat wave. Thought I'd get some relief from the topics of the Philippines, but nope, this was...

Hello again! I recently just finished up a six month stint in the Philippines. There was good, bad, and sometimes bizarre times. The Philippines is a popular choice for nomads and expats because you can basically keep extending your tourist visa indefinitely (for a price) You can read all about my experience in my latest blog: Digital Nomad Philippines: The Ultimate Guide to Navigating Island Life White Beach, Boracay, my choice of destination in The Philippines Relationships are hard as a...
